InterTech’s Test-Centric Assembly Advantage
InterTech coined the phrase “test-centric assembly” to describe the upfront consideration of real-world test requirements in test-intensive assembly and test operations that is proven to lower production line inefficiencies.

Test-centric assembly starts with having a good understanding of the testing requirements of an application. The assembly and test sequence must be carefully thought out. One must thoroughly consider which tests will be required and at what stages of the assembly and test process. Similarly, one needs to know what the application requirements are for accuracy, data storage and parts traceability. Test-centric solutions for assembly and test must be user-friendly, easy to maintain, and flexible to address future requirements.

Typically at issue in assembly and test is how to design test fixturing and how to integrate both software and hardware at the system level. Competence in hardware design for fixturing that will prevent seal creep, manage temperature-related effects, minimize testing volumes for quick response, eliminate part distortion during testing, or comparable problems is prerequisite, as is the ability to readily customize software working in real-time.

In this application fixture design is key. Six cup plugs and one water pipe are automatically loctited and pressed into an engine block prior to mass flow leak testing.
